Honestly I wish iPads had existed when I was in college…. even if the content isn't super organized, it now somehow feels like it is because I can search it and add links t sections I need to go back and reference more often. Like many people I also maintain a “stream of consciousness” style journal that is just a huge mashup of everything on my mind that isn’t necessarily work related and having this be digital has been incredibly helpful. The fact that all of those saved notes are actually searchable is just next level mind blowing - it’s like my brain has a record now and I don’t ever second guess what I’ve accomplished work-wise as a result. I use it extensively at work for notes, and to check things off of lists and other notes relating to work, and for me it’s a huge productivity boost - mostly because those lists and notes and things are not eventually lost like they might be on a printed page or a random notebook. Am I wrong? Are there things a person can do on an iPad that I haven't thought of? I think the iPad is a wonderful device that performs exceptionally well, but I do view it mostly as a device for people to consume media rather than produce it. I can't see photo editing solely as a legitimate reason for getting an iPad from a cost-benefit perspective. I can see the iPad as a substitute for a Wacom tablet for photo editing, but Wacom tablets are much cheaper and having a large, desktop screen certainly confers some advantages when editing pictures. How would a person do all that stuff without a normal desktop-style operating system and just by using touch commands? I can't comment on that because I do not do a lot of video editing, but I imagine a user would also have to manage a database of other sound bits, images, and portions of other videos to slice in. Some people say the iPad is great for video editing. Some people praise the iPad for handling emails, document composition, and web browsing, but all of those things could be done on just about any computing device and without the additional requirement of having to purchase a keyboard accessory. It's very portable and can be comfortably operated using touch screen commands. What makes the iPad a productivity device? Some YouTuber reviewers refer to it as the ultimate productivity device.
